A Childhood
On Chronic Illness
I'm about to break the fourth wall, so settle in. I have been sick my entire life but have spent a significant portion of the last five years in and out of hospitals. Chronic illness and disability are already an isolating thing, but being actively medically fragile is a difficult identidy on it's own.
I'm lucky enough to have had incredible support through my life, not only from family and friends but from doctors, nurses, techs, volunteers, other parents of medically complex children, and so many more people. My experience with chronic illness is scattered across the site but I wanted a mini hub, so I'm sticking it at the age I got diagnosed.
The virtue in this stage of life outlined by Erikson is competence, and that is what chronic illness has truly given me. To any other chronically ill people, you are your own best advocate and support. I am always open to contact and discuss medical issues.
Please explore this section gently. The animatics are a coping moment for me, the playlist is tired of seeing the inside of emergency rooms. The patient ID is meant to represent the way that identidy can be erased and replaced when in a hospital, but please take it with a grain of salt. This is threaded into me, but it isn't anywhere near all of me.
